What is Vitamin D?

Vitamin D contributes to :
- normal function of the immune system
- normal absorption of calcium and phosphorus
- the maintenance of normal bones and normal teeth
We recommend a supplement of vitamin D3 for people who need to strengthen their immune defences in the darker months, people who don’t do much outdoor activity in the sun and people with a vegetarian or vegan diet.
There are two forms of vitamin D: vitamin D2 and vitamin D3.
Both are synthesised by exposure to the sun’s UVB rays, with Vitamin D2 found mainly in plants and Vitamin D3 mainly in foods of animal origin.
Vitamin D3 is the most bioavailable form for the body, but don’t worry, there is good news for vegans and vegetarian as there is a plant based source of D3: lichen.

How to supplement with vitamin D?
The NHS recommends that children from the age of 1 year and adults need 10 micrograms (μg) of vitamin D a day. This includes pregnant and breastfeeding women, and people at risk of vitamin D deficiency.
One tablet of Organic Dlightfull therefore provides an average of 100% of the daily allowance of vitamin D3, i.e. 10 µg or 400 IU!

To hold all this without generating too much waste we provide 120 vitamin D chewable tablets in one container for 4 months of vitamin D supplements.
Being interested in the welfare of our animal friends and then creating products with lots of plastic would make no sense, so we have thought of everything. Our container is a real champion of eco-friendliness.
- It is made of recycled cardboard so no contribution to deforestation.
- For the lid we chose natural cork that is recyclable forever!
- The inner lining is suitable for food contact.
- The container is covered by a label printed on FSC paper (eco-friendly paper management and Imprim’vert label). Its a peelable label so the container can be re-used to reduce waste. We are also working hard to provide you with refills in recyclable bags.

✅ organic lichen powder (Cladonia rangiferina) which contains the secret of our natural vitamin D3,
✅ natural flavouring with the taste of good organic apricots
