New research carried out by
a group of researchers in Poland suggests that Spirulina can have a positive effect on the immune system of athletes. While athletes usually appear to be in superior health, the intense physical effort can actually make them more prone to infections, such as those of the upper respiratory tract.
At the six weeks of taking spirulina, the athletes who were part of the test experienced protection from the effects of strenuous exercise (in comparison to the control group who received placebo).
