3 Nutritionist-Approved Festive Superfood Recipes (That Are Actually Good for You)!

This festive season is notorious for being the enemy of our fitness goals, which usually only resurface again in January. This year can be different! We asked Rick Hay, our in-house nutritionist to give you some ideas for healthy festive treats that are decadent but also good for you. No need to deprive yourself during the holidays! Instead, try one of the recipes below:

Christmas Chocolate Delight

  • 1  frozen banana
  • 1 small cup cashew milk
  • 1 scoop Sunwarrior Vegan Chocolate Protein powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon almond butter
  • A handful of spinach
  • If you want it a bit more chocolate-y you can add a teaspoon of raw chocolate powder.
  • Blend the ingredients and then add these toppings:
  • 1 tbsp goji berries
  • 1 tbsp coconut flakes
  • 2 tbsp granola of choice
  • 1/2 banana, chopped
You can have that chocolate taste that you desire in a healthy way with this bowl.
It’s good to help increase natural energy production and also provides good levels of antioxidants and immune boosting phytonutrients.

Vanilla and Coconut Smoothie Bowl

  • 1 banana or 1 very ripe mango (frozen)
  • 1/2 cup coconut yogurt
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened applesauce
  • 1 scoop of Sunwarrior Vanilla Protein Powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Blend the above and then add the following:

  • 2 tbsp Granola
  • 1 tbsp Chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp Mulberries or Raspberries
  • Sprinkle of nutmeg

This bowl tastes like a decadent dessert but has the cinnamon and chia seeds added to help with blood sugar regulation. Steady blood sugar levels help to reduce cravings and also keep mood steady. It’s a good source of natural energy, too.

Berry Festive Treat

  • One cup of frozen berries
  • One banana
  • One scoop of Sunwarrior Protein Powder
  • One half cup of vanilla soy yoghurt
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds
  • 1 tablespoon ground linseeds
  •  Blend the above and add the following toppings:
  •  Sliced strawberries and kiwi fruit
  • Almond slivers

This is a great immune booster that also provides good levels of essential fatty acids for Hair, Skin and Nail health.
